Fallingwater
Frank
Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater is among the world's most recognizable
buildings. It is arguably one of the most architecturally significant
and visionary structures of the 20th century. For those even mildly
interested in architecture, Fallingwater is a must-see.
A visit to the site is nothing short of breathtaking. The harmony
between the structure and its surroundings is perfect. The synergy
of this work of art in its magnificent natural setting forms a lasting
impression. You will not be disappointed.
Since Fallingwater is such a popular destination, reservations
are strongly advised, especially in the warmer months and weekends.
The standard tour of the building lasts about an hour and figure
spending another hour or so exploring the grounds and the visitor's
center.
Many guests of the Inne at Watson's Choice come speciffically to
see Fallingwater. Most who do also tour another Frank Lloyd Wright
home, Kentuck Knob, which just happens
to be on the way to Fallingwater.
The drive is a pleasant 30 minutes, going up Summit Mountain [stop
at Lookout Point for a grand view
of the city and valley below], through the picturesque country-side
and through beautiful Ohiopyle State
Park before arriving at Fallingwater's Bear
Run location.
