Pechin's Shopping Village
People come from miles around to shop at Pechin's. The quality of their merchandise rivals that of the much higher price chains.. The big difference is price. It's practically a religious experience to some. We're told that their volume of business is phenomenal. In the parking lot, you're as likely to see a new Cadillac as an old junker. Pechin's boasts they have the cheapest hamburgers in the US. In their cafeteria style restaurant, hamburgers are just 15 cents each! That's right, 15 cents and just 19 cents for cheeseburgers! The burgers are not what you'd expect for 15 cents... they're not bad actually. Let's say they're on the order of that big national chain that starts with an M, only without the pickle and the annoying advertising. We doubt, however, the next big catch-phase will be "Did somebody say Pechin's?" And get this, their daily lunch and dinner specials generally run under a buck! Yeah, you have to tack on another 15 or 20 cents for a drink (5 cents for a small cup of Joe/ 10 cents for regular) and 50 cents for desert, but we can still safely say it's a bargain. The food is decent and the facilities are clean. Tip: don't take your girlfriend there to propose marriage. Tip 2: Visit their bakery section... their homemade strawberry-rhubarb and blackberry pies are out of this world. Several years back, an author wrote an Internet article about the Pechin's experience entitled Hillbilly Heaven. He managed to raise the hackles of quite a few Pechin's regulars who weren't very pleased with his characterizations. The brouhaha lasted for years. We doubt that Pechin's will become a nationwide chain, but perhaps it could. Naw.. they'd have to spend a lot of money on advertising and we don't see that happening. Anyway, Pechin's is not for everyone. But if you're adventuresome and want a shopping experience you'll remember, give Pechin's a shot. |

Pechin's is a shopping plaza with such stores as grocery, restaurant,
hardware, garden, sporting goods and others. Pechin's is known for
it's great prices and low, low overhead. You'll not have to be concerned
that you're paying for atmosphere... the atmosphere is free at Pechin's.
You can check snobbery at the door, cause it ain't gonna git you
nowheres at Pechin's
