Opulence of Coal and Coke Era
During the heyday of the coal and coke era in Fayette County, a
great deal of wealth was generated from this black gold. At the
turn of the 20th century, Uniontown was said to have some 20 millionaires
(a great deal of money for the time). Though the "good times"
have long since past, quite a few reminders of those heady times
are still apparent.
